Our bilingual program is assured by the Community of Madrid and further supported by the Catholic Schools of Madrid’s organization, the BEDA program.  We work together with the British Council and Cambridge English Assessment to be able to provide our students with the opportunity to learn from native conversation assistants, methodological support, official exams as well as after school activities.

A bilingual education helps students tremendously in their academic developments seeing as it strengthens, connects and expands the neurological connections that are normally associated with literary and oral expression skills.  Aside from all the academic advantages, in Jesús María we firmly believe that by providing our students with a bilingual education, it will benefit them socially and emotionally, preparing them to be more successful in our diverse world.

Educational Stages

In Jesús María, we develop the bilingual competence from our little ones in nursery school up to university level.  Starting with our 2-year-old nursery students, we strive to spark their curiosity and expose them to a new language with the help of specialized native teachers, along with the help of Yo-Yo Phonics, a program in which the children acquire a correct pronunciation of the English language.  In Primary, apart from their English language classes, our students also study Science and Arts in English.  In Secondary and Bachiller levels, our students are part of a personalized bilingual program where we offer English as well as Technology and Bachillerato Dual.

Teaching Methods

Throughout the bilingual journey, our students are accompanied by Native Conversation Assistants from the BEDA program and the Fulbright Program to help them strengthen their oral language skills.  Moreover, we use innovative teaching methods such as Cooperative Learning, PBL (Project Based Learning), Gamification and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), etc.   We have flexible learning groups and language exchange programs in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom.  In Jesús María we provide our students with the opportunity to take official Cambridge Exams that allows them to obtain a certificate according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) as well as the opportunity to study in our Bachillerato Dual program.
